Find a strategy to navigate a small spaceship through a series of obstacles. You have to time your movement and use power ups to get your way through.
Maneuvers has a total of 100 levels, with every 10 introducing a new concept into the challenge of the game. There is also a survival mode to see how many levels you can get your ship through without getting it destroyed once. As a sort of bonus level there is an asteroids type game where you try to survive an endless and evermore difficult onslaught of asteroids and obstacles. However, in this mode you are armed with a blaster on your ship.
Maneuvers was the second game that I created. I used AndEngine for the game's engine and its many helper classes for loading assets. This game is much more polished than Incognito. It also took half the time to make.
This is ultimately a game about discovery. The battle system is quite unique and has an element of increasing challenge in it. There are over 50 worlds to conquer and many other things to do in this game.
Over 30 Ships, 32 different weapons, 12 quests,and over 100 total locations to visit. Conquering this game takes a very long time and requires you to basically dominate the galaxy.
For this game I created a massive SQLite database that holds information about planets, weapons, ships, prices, dialog, and everything in between. Much of the game relies around what was in this database.
This game took nearly a year to develop. A lot of that time went towards teaching myself Java (with the help of Stanfords Open Education Courses). I also created all of the images, sounds, and animations myself.
